Oktoberfest

This weekend Torrox hosts its first ‘Oktoberfest’ between Friday 30 October and on Sunday 1 November .

The is a comprehensive program of activities taking place in this festival. Among the acts, one of the most legendary bands Germanic, the Lichtenstein.

The first Oktoberfest is located in La Lonja de Hortomálaga, located in Torrox Costa, at the heart of Los Llanos and urbanization against Laguna Beach. From Friday, at 19 hours, until well into the early hours of Sunday to Monday, there will be ongoing activities, and even a series of demonstrations and games typical of Germany.

Temporary foster home for our 2 small dogs

We are returning to the UK and we are looking for a TEMPORARY foster home for our 2 small dogs. We WILL take the dogs with us, but we have to wait until they are passported and ready to fly to the UK, which will take about 6 months. The dogs are mother and daughter of 3 years and 18 months, Jack-Russel size. They are house trained, child friendly and have received all vaccinations. We will of course pay for the food. Interesting stuff – maybe!

Just a warning if you are travelling by plane. Soap and candles show up in hand baggage as liquids, so, if you have these in your bag, remove them and put them in the tray. We didn’t know this and had to have all the hand baggage searched which nearly caused us to miss our plane.

New fish shop opened on Torrox Costa on the low road opposite Supersol.

Lourdes in the Tourist Office by the tile shop in the pueblo, has new timetables for Alsa and Nieto so go see her and get some. The 9.00am bus to Malaga from the Pueblo has stopped going so be sure to go for another time.

The Cine Club has started again in Nerja with some good films. Check out www.rsafm.org Cine Club for details.

I miss laughing at the funny cats so thought other may be missing them too, so here’s one for you.

Spanish class

Dear digame readers.
The town hall is starting free spanish classes again. The sign up and the quick test are at the edificio almedina( the building next to the new police station) at 7pm on Friday.
Teachers, class times etc not yet fixed. Go and get your name down so the town hall will continue the classes.
There are normally two classes, beginners and intermediate.
There will be a test to see what level of spanish is needed, be warned, if you are a beginner it will look impossible! Don’t worry, they don’t actually expect anyone to be able to answer all the questions. Most beginners won’t even be able to start answering(that’s the reason you are signing up for classes, right?)
I’m writing this because last year a number of people saw the test and didn’t bothersigning up because they thought it would be too difficult.

Broadband

We are looking for a broadband provider for our location. We live just above Torrox pueblo – Directions – from the bins at the very end of Torrox village, after the bridge, turn right (off the back road to Frigiliana) and go uphill towards Pago Benamar – follow signs to Casa Joya. Go past the yellow “Mi Nueva Casa” and the wedding cake house on the right and continue to the junction at the top. The property is in the area to the RIGHT of this junction.
