The first meeting of the book club took place on the 18th of November when it was decided that the book of the month was to be anything by Donna Leon and that the following month’s book was to be Winter in Madrid by C.J.Ransom.The first book would be discussed at the December meeting (wednesday the 9th at 14:00) and the second at the January meeting (Wednesday the 20th at 14:00).At the December meeting a book would be chosen to be read before the February meeting –so thinking caps on please.
All the meetings are to be held at the café bar Las Americas on the paseo maritimo in Torre del Mar. If travelling from Torrox, turn left at the BP service station,carry on to the end and turn left onto the paseo. The venue is fifty metres on the left at the junction of calle del Mar..

Dear friends of Dígame.
My name is Betty Luna Gijón, I’ve known many of the “Digamites” -as Sandra Duncan used to call Dígame subscribers- for many many years, at least since 1992 -in the last century!!!- when I moved to Torrox and started working as a teacher of Spanish. Even from that time I’ve been looking for a method to help the many foreigners of the area improve their communication in Spanish. Thus, for the last couple of years I’ve been trying a new idea for the tuition of Spanish. Sorry if some of my students may have felt as Guinea pigs, but as it proved to be effective and satisfactory I don’t think they will mind. It requires a big effort on my part to make lessons -which I prefer to call sessions- amusing, interesting and enjoyable. Most of the participants to the sessions know that they will not find any of the texts which are discussed in class in the libraries, since the great majority of them come either from my own creativity, experience and imagination or some other’s, mostly teachers who exchange material and experiences over the Internet.
Now, I’m very glad to announce that I have become partners with two other teachers. We are opening new premises in Torrox Costa on November 27th. We will continue working with this method which is also partially my own creation and, with more spacious and well equipped classrooms, we will be in a better position to offer activities such as monthly free cultural events which will include Spanish movies with Sp. subtitltes and discussion, lectures on Spanish culture, writing and reading workshop, visits to relevant historic sites… We have lots of interesting projects to develop in the near future. We are in Torrox Costa, on the 340 road, in the area of Ferretería Los Llanos, between Sun Kitchens and Bar Encinas.

Don’t forget the Christmas Market at El Ancla on Saturday 28 -11 ! From 14.00 hrs till 18.00 hrs with several stalls such as the one from Home & Garden with the latest decorations and even (pre-light) Christmas trees or Christmas lights for inside and outside (even led!) are available. Also Christmas table decorations, candles, pendulums, lots and lots more other trinkets for bargain prices.
Other stalls with make-up, handbags, painted tiles, cards, clothes etc.etc. So don’t miss it!
